Riding on the wave of her latest hit, ‘Manikarnika : The Queen of Jhansi’, actress Kangana Ranaut is all set to level the pay gap between male and female leads in bollywood. She has reportedly charged a whopping Rs 24 crore for the Jayalalitha biopic she’d be next seen in.
It is believed to be the biggest deal to be cracked by an actress with Deepika Padukone who charged Rs 10 crore for Padmavat and was the highest paid among the entire film cast finishing next.
In her official statement released by the makers of the film, she quoted, “Jayalalithaaji is one of the biggest female success stories of this century. She was a superstar and went on to become an iconic politician, it’s a great concept for a mainstream film. I am honoured to be a part of this mega project.”
The movie will be bilingual, titled ‘Thalaivi’ in Tamil and ‘Jaya’ in Hindi. KV Vijayendra Prasad of Baahubali fame has been roped in for screenplay. It will be directed by AL Vijay and produced by Vibri & Karma Media and Entertainment in both the languages.
