Vivek Oberoi has deleted the meme featuring Aishwarya Rai Bacchan from his twitter profile following widespread criticism by celebs and netizens alike.

A sly dig at Aishwarya’s marriage to Abhishek Bacchan after she dated Salman Khan and Vivek Oberoi, the meme compared her decision to polling results.

While it was created by another twitter user, Vivek retweeted it captioning,

Film maker Madhur Bhandarkar also condemned the actor’s action and requested him to delete the tweet.

Addressing the backlash, Vivek initially maintained that he won’t apologise since he had not done anything “wrong.”

“Those who are in the meme have no objection while scores of politicians are trying to politicise the issue. They don’t work on issues but start their politics on such non-issues. There is a ‘Didi’ in West Bengal who puts people behind jail for a meme. Now, these people are demanding to put Vivek Oberoi behind bars. They were unable to stop my film and hence are now are trying to put me behind bars.” He told ANI.

Later, NCW joined the furore and served him a legal notice following which he rendered his apology through a series of tweets.
